Pre-Booking FAQs

Are you family friendly?

We certainly are! Our treehouses can sleep up to 2 adults, 3 children (in a separate triple bunk bed room) plus an infant in a travel cot. Our shepherd huts can all sleep up to 2 adults, and 2 (we recommend smaller) children on a pull out sofa bed.

We love welcoming families on their holidays and being a small family run business with two young (ish) boys of our own, you will likely see our boys around the site!

Are you dog friendly?

We sure are! We love welcoming your four-legged family members on their holiday too. Three out of four of our treehouses (Woodpecker, Pheasant and Owl) are dog friendly and all five of our shepherd huts, plus our Airstream welcome up to 2 well behaved dogs.

We provide them with their own welcome hamper which includes a comfy bed to sleep on during their stay, a blanket (for sofa cuddles), a towel (for muddy paws), food/water bowels, poo bags and treats.

Can I book for just one night?

I’m afraid we can’t make one-night stays work due to the considerable upheaval of additional work changing over, cleaning and re-stocking each property.

We have a minimum 2-night stay in our shepherd huts and American Airstream, with a flexible check-in day Monday – Saturday.

We have three check-in days each week for our treehouses – Monday, Wednesday and Friday’s. Therefore, there is a minimum 2-night stay in the week and a ‘weekend rate’ for maximising your time over a weekend. A weekend rate is valid from 4pm on a Friday to 10am on a Monday.

I have to be back at work on Monday morning, can I stay for just two nights over the weekend?

Yes, we offer a minimum 2-night stay in any of our five shepherd huts or our American Airstream, with a Friday (or Saturday) check-in. So, you are welcome to booking Friday – Sunday.

Treehouse weekend rates run from 4pm on Friday to 10am on Monday, or any part thereof for a fixed price. Some guests leave on Sunday night having enjoyed Sunday at the treehouse if they are unable to stay the extra night until Monday, still taking advantage of as much of the weekend at the treehouse as possible.

Can I arrive later in the evening/when it’s dark?

Yes, you are very welcome to arrive later than 4pm as all of our properties are self-check-in and you are emailed all of your directions and check-in details a few days prior to your arrival. We do advise however, that there is limited lighting around the site so please do bear this in mind. There are motion sensor lights in the car parks and paths to each accommodation.

We do also provide a torch in each accommodation for guests to use during their stay.

Can I book for a group?

Yes, we very much welcome larger family or friend groups, or corporate/professional groups.

The site can accommodate a total of 20 adults and 22 children if all accommodation is booked exclusively.

If you are looking to gather extended family together for a special occasion, or a group of friends, whether it’s couples of families then our choice of ten separate accommodation units are perfect.

We are excited to also now be able to offer our 40 person capacity Tipi tent for use by groups. This can be hired on a daily basis and is offered complimentary when the site is booked as a whole.

Email as at reservations@dittishamhideaway.co.uk to discuss your requirements.

Pre-Arrival FAQs

What time is check-in?

Check-in is from 4pm please.

We offer a self-check-in process, with all of the required details, including lock-box code and directions to your accommodation provided by email a few days prior to your arrival. Should you not be arriving until later into the evening, this is not a problem.

We kindly ask that you don’t arrive before 4pm please, as your accommodation is likely to not be ready yet. We are only a small family team that get everything ready for you, so need all the time to prepare everything for you. If your accommodation is ready earlier than 4pm, we will message you to advise this.

What time is check-out?

We request that you please vacate your accommodation promptly by 10am on the morning of your departure.

There may be an option for a late check-out (at a small additional charge). This will need to be pre-arranged, and is not something we can add onto your booking on the morning of your departure. Please message/email us to find out if this add-on is possible for your booking.

What do you provide?

All bed linen and towels (for the bathrooms and hot tub).

Kitchen essentials including kitchen roll, cooking oil, salt and pepper, washing up liquid and sponge, dishwasher tablets, cling film and foil. We also supply Devonshire tea bags, compostable coffee pods (for the Nespresso coffee machine – treehouses and shepherd huts), ground coffee (for the cafetière in the Airstream) and sugar.

Logs, kindling, firelighters and matches for the hot tub and wood-burner (for your first few days – additional sacks can be purchased from the honesty shop onsite).

Organic luxury toiletries – shampoo, conditioner, body wash and body lotion. Please note that these are not provided in the second (children’s shower room).
